Â
On May 12, join fellow DMLers for a stroll down memory lane with the entertaining 1990s period film, “Blackberry” which recently premiered in the Bay Area! Directed by Canadian Matt Johnson, “Blackberry” recounts the meteoric rise and catastrophic demise of Waterloo’s Research in Motion from scrappy startup to the maker of a world-leading global cell phone. The movie is an entertaining and humorous romp with a nostalgic Ontario backdrop. Nominated for Best Film at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, and a winner of the San Francisco Film Festival’s 2023 Science on Screen Award. Come see it with other expats!Â
Â
After the movie, enjoy a light-hearted 30-minute panel discussion with Bay area residents and former Blackberry executives Don Lindsay and Andrew Bocking, who will let us know how well the film did at capturing this amazing Canadian story. Keep reading for more event details and a link to register below.
