As a colonel in the California State Guard, I first became involved with the Royal Canadian Legion when they sponsored of the pipe band I was a member of “the Black Ravens.”  We actually had a special relationship with the Black Watch (RHR) of Canada, and during the 1980s our post Colour Party wore their uniforms circa 1944,fred-Haiti and did so at the pleasure of the Black Watch Commanding Officer.  Additionally, in 1995-96 I served in the United Nations mission in Haiti with Canadians, and had a Canadian Commanding Officer when first in country.

Over the past 40 years, I have been actively involved in Branch 25 – serving in most of the executive positions.  At present, I am the immediate Past President and also serving as the Vice President.

I joined to maintain the connections to the many Canadian comrades and organizations that I had established.
