Celebrating RBLI’s Centenary Year

Over the last two years, every Tommy sold has been packaged and posted by the veterans at Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI), Britains Bravest Manufacturing Company. This has ensured that at every point in the process, your purchase has supported veterans.

RBLI was established in 1919 to provide support to sick and wounded troops returning from the front lines of the First World War.

One hundred years on, the charity supports injured veterans and people with disabilities by providing employment and homes in their Kent village.

This year, RBLI launched a £14 million Centenary Village appeal which will see the development of 22 apartments, each designed to be fully accessible and house single veterans in urgent need, alongside 16 new family homes and a further 24 assisted-living apartments.

At the heart of the development will be a state-of-the-art community centre with accessible gym. It will sit alongside the existing village, care homes and manufacturing facility in Kent.

Britain’s Bravest Military Challenge
To celebrate their centenary, RBLI have joined forces with the UK’s biggest and best loved outdoor fitness classes, Be Military Fit with Bear Grylls to launch Britain’s Bravest Military Challenge on Saturday 28th September.

This is a mass participation event, suitable for all levels of fitness and abilities taking place at 18 locations around the UK.

Designed by military instructors, participants will be pushed to their limits, whilst competing in teams and undertaking authentic military based challenges. You can put together your own team or be teamed up on the day.

The fundraising target for this event is just £100 – the money raised will support the life changing work of RBLI, whose mission is to support the UK’s most vulnerable veterans and their families to regain their independence through accommodation and employment.
