Year in Review
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners over the last year, Support Our Troops has been able to provide support to our CAF community when they needed it most.
Thank you for your support and for standing with us. It is truly having an impact on our military community.
This Year in Review highlights a few key examples of how this support has been provided to families, as well as to the ill and injured.

BMO pledges $100,000 to provide education access for military family members
BMO, the official bank of the Canadian Defence Community, has a long-standing history of supporting the CAF, as well as supporting education to help remove barriers for an inclusive society and a more equitable future for all.
Military spouse hopes to pay it forward during nursing career
Thanks to a Support Our Troops scholarship, Jessica Couture is set to graduate nursing school next month and credits her success to hard work, determination, and supportive CAF community.

Registration for Canada Army Run 2023 is open!
This September will see the return of the in-person half marathon and 5K + Half Marathon Commander’s Challenge. This brings back the full slate of in-person races for the first time since 2019! Participate virtually or in-person!

Honorary Colonel Helen Vari
Support Our Troops would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of Helen Vari.
Serving as an Honorary Colonel of the Toronto Scottish Regiment is just one of the legacies left behind by Madam Vari, who so generously devoted her life to helping others, specifically the Canadian Armed Forces.

The Education Assistance Loan Program (EALP) is an opportunity for military members and their families to pursue further education with the support of a low-interest study loan. Whether you’re a serving member, former member, military spouse or dependent in need of recertification courses, supplementary courses and/or training to increase opportunities for employment, the EALP is there to help!

Legacy gift to help family of CAF members reach academic dreams
Helen Allen Stacey’s life mission to advocate for children and youth carries on through her support to the National Scholarship Program. Thanks to her legacy gift to the Support Our Troops National Scholarship Program, military family members will be able to pursue post-secondary education without the fear of financial burdens holding them back.
Scholarship recipient strives to improve the school transition experiences of adolescents living in Canadian military families
 “As a former military dependent, I feel strongly about giving back to a community that I was once a part of. I feel so fortunate that Support Our Troops recognized the importance of the work I am doing and the impact it will have within the military community.”

Register for the 2022 Virtual edition of Canada Army Run!
The 2022 Virtual edition of Canada Army Run, presented by BMO, is now OPEN for registration! Your participation and fundraising in the run, taking place September 9-18, will raise funds for Support Our Troops and Soldier On.
Registration for the 2022 Virtual Navy Bike Ride!
Registration is now open for the 2022 Navy Bike Ride taking place June 12 – August 7, 2022. Your participation and fundraising will raise funds for Support Our Troops, Soldier On and the Royal Canadian Naval Benevolent Fund.

ONroute Customers Give Over $144,000 to
Support Our Troops
This inspiring level of support will make a difference in the lives of military members and their families. Thousands of ONroute customers said “Thank You” to Veterans and currently serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in November and December, with donations to Support Our Troops totaling over $144,000.
Extra help can assist military members, Veterans and their families in life-changing ways

Fallen Bombardier Patrick Labrie Honoured in New Book
On June 17, 2019, Bombardier Patrick Labrie died in a parachuting accident during a low-altitude training jump in Bulgaria. As a way of coping with her grief and keeping Patrick’s memory alive, his mother, Julie Rivard, wrote a book about his life.

CANEX Gift of Giving campaign raises over $26,000 for Support Our Troops and Soldier On
We may be into the new year but with the help of the CANEX Gift of Giving Campaign we are still in the holiday spirit! Thanks to the generous support of our CAF Community over $26,000 was raised for Support Our Troops and Soldier On. Donations raised support military members, Veterans, their families and the ill and injured. If you missed out on this campaign but want to Support Our Troops, you can purchase some Support Our Troops or Soldier On merchandise at CANEX! 15% of proceeds for all Support Our Troops and Soldier On merchandise is given back to members and their families in their time of need! Thank you for Standing With Us!
