| Today, we celebrate 100 years of The Royal Canadian Legion.
On July 17, 1926, the Canadian Legion was officially incorporated. What began as Veterans uniting to support one another grew into a national organization dedicated to serving Veterans and their families, honouring the Fallen, and strengthening communities across Canada.
For a century, generations of Legion members and volunteers have carried this mission forward.
They have advocated for Veterans. Supported families in times of need. Kept Remembrance alive. Engaged young people. Raised funds, opened Branch doors and brought communities together.
Today, we honour everyone who has helped shape the Legion’s first 100 years—our Veterans, members, volunteers, Branches, supporters and the Canadians who have stood beside us.
Thank you for being part of this remarkable legacy.
As we celebrate our history, we also look ahead. Together, we will continue serving Canada’s Veterans, strengthening our communities and ensuring Remembrance endures for generations to come.

With Saskatchewan’s lieutenant governor firing the pistol to officially open the 48th annual Legion National Championships during the opening ceremonies, competition got underway on Friday August 6. Over 800 athletes from across Canada have gathered at Regina’s Canada Games Complex in Saskatchewan to compete in a range of track and field events until August 9. 
The Royal Canadian Legion is pleased to announce Nanaimo, British Columbia as the next host city for the 2028 and 2029 Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships. “The kind of unbridled passion from the Nanaimo planning team is exactly what it takes to hold successful games,” says Dominion President Berkley Lawrence. 
The Royal Canadian Legion proudly commemorated its 100th anniversary at the National War Memorial in Ottawa today, joined by invited dignitaries, Veterans, Legion members, and the public. Incorporated on July 17, 1926, the country’s largest Veteran support and community service organization recalled highlights of its history of Remembrance.
