A message from Veterans Affairs Canada

This year, 6 June 2024, marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Veterans Affairs Canada will hold our signature in-Canada events in the Greater Moncton Area, New Brunswick, from 4-7 June 2024. We are currently seeking Second World War Veterans to join our delegation in New Brunswick. If you have Second World War Veterans within your organization or community who are interested in travelling to Moncton to mark the anniversary, we kindly ask that you forward us their contact information and we will ensure they receive an official invitation.

Also, if you are planning on hosting a commemorative event locally to mark this important anniversary, please let us know. Our team can provide you with a variety of resources to assist with your event, such as a short video showcasing first-hand accounts from the Canadians who served on D-Day, learning resources, and the opportunity to have a Government of Canada representative deliver remarks at your event.

If you are holding an event, we encourage you to post it to our Commemorative Calendar of Events: https://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/remembrance/commemorative-events

If you have any questions about our in-Canada program for the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, do not hesitate to contact Brent Bell at brent.bell@veterans.gc.ca.

Thank you,

Veterans Affairs Canada
