Hello Michael Barbour,

Believe it or not, we are already halfway through the year and planning for National Wreaths Across America Day 2025 is well underway! We have continued to grow, and this year, we’ll surpass the 5,000 participating locations milestone. This mean more opportunities to get involved and support the mission.

This is also an opportunity for us to improve communication and support for your efforts. Returning and new Honor Fleet members alike should expect to complete and onboarding process with the WAA team this year! Onboarding will include a webinar and access to professional driver resources ahead of load pick-up. Keep an eye out as we start to schedule onboarding!

Should you need anything, the WAA Transportation Team is always here – don’t hesitate to reach out! Thank you for your continued support, flexibility and passion for the mission.

With gratitude,
WAA Transportation Team

Your Impact

Because of you, the mission moves forward.  Hauling what is referred to as “a truckload of respect,” members of the Honor Fleet transports millions of sponsored veterans’ wreaths to locations all across the country. On National Wreaths Across America Day, these wreaths are laid on veterans’ graves.

When placing the wreath, volunteers say the name of the service member out loud, remembering and honoring their sacrifice. These wreaths could not reach their location to be placed without you!

Professional Driver Quick Facts

We’re looking forward to a successful season! Here are some quick facts for professional drivers and carriers to keep in mind:

  • In most cases, unless otherwise stated, all professional drivers participating should expect a multi-stop load when delivering veterans’ wreaths for WAA; on average, 8-12 stops.
  • Because sponsorships continue to come in right up to the last minute, final wreath counts are not available until the professional driver arrives for loading.
  • Load drops can be delivered on the route that best suits the professional driver!
  •  Don’t be surprised if volunteers at the location are full of gratitude and want to make a connection with you; YOU are valued by the local community!

Few know how much effort our volunteers put in to make National Wreaths Across America Day happen each December. Fewer still understand that the work of the dedicated volunteers and WAA staff is carried out year-round and grows yearly.

It is through the daily efforts of dedicated individuals like yourself that Wreaths Across America has been able to build a community for veterans, military families, and civic organizations bringing our mission to life throughout the year.

As we recognize Teacher Appreciation Week, we wanted to take a moment to share a few of the ways that you can continue to be involved in our mission to teach the next generation the value of freedom.

  • We are so proud of our expanded Teach Program, headed by a retired teacher who is a Gold Star Mother and in tandem with many well-respected, longstanding veteran support organizations. The character and service-centric curriculum is becoming increasingly in demand and can be downloaded on the WAA website for free.
  • Our Mobile Education Exhibit (MEE) travels all over the country, visiting schools and communities, bringing people together with the common goal of learning, sharing, and embracing local veterans’ service.
  • Our quarterly Teach Webinars equip educators and youth of all ages. The next webinar takes place on May 13th. Learn more and register here.

We thank you for your continued support of our mission. Today, we invite you to further your impact by making a $5 donation to our TEACH Program. Your contribution will directly support our mission to teach the next generation the value of freedom.

Sincerely,

The Wreaths Across America Team

“Every single day, in every walk of life, ordinary people do extraordinary things.”

Coach Jim Valvano

Wreaths Across America, as part of the “Teach” pillar of our mission, will host our first annual Lindbergh Crate Day event on Tuesday, May 20, in Maine on the tip lands where balsam is grown and harvested to make veterans’ wreaths.

The Lindbergh Crate, used to transport famed aviator and Medal of Honor recipient Charles Lindbergh’s plane, the Spirit of St. Louis, back to the United States from Paris in 1927, was gifted to WAA. The previous owner, Larry Ross, purchased the crate in 1990 and opened a museum on his property in Canaan, Maine, to use as a teaching tool for area youth. His focus was on introducing students to “ordinary people who do extraordinary things.”

Larry’s message, like ours, is simple: we all have the ability to do good with what we have. Read Karen Worcester’s full message about the power of purpose, the legacy of service, and the lessons behind Lindbergh Crate Day.

Keep Moving Forward 🇺🇸

“Keep moving forward.”

That was the last command Capt. Joshua Byers ever gave after an IED struck his vehicle in Iraq. Josh didn’t make it home, but his words saved lives and became a battle cry for his unit. Today, his story represents why our year-long mission is so vital.

Michael Barbour, Capt. Byer’s sacrifice – like those of countless other fallen heroes – must never be forgotten. Yet there is a growing disconnect between younger generations and the profound sacrifices of our service members and veterans. His powerful last command reminds us why we must act now.

We must ensure our children understand and learn from heroes like Joshua who gave everything so others could live free. His story teaches us about unwavering leadership, sacrifice, and dedication to fellow service members – values that future generations need to learn and embrace.

Here at Wreaths Across America, we are committed to doing just that. Through our year-round mission to Remember, Honor and Teach, our efforts focus on showing our nation’s veterans that their service mattered. We do this by sharing their stories on Wreaths Across America Radio. Welcoming Home our Vietnam veterans in communities across the country on the Mobile Education Exhibit. In helping Veteran Service Organizations raise awareness and funding through our Group Sponsorship program.

And maybe most important, we honor our nation’s veterans by teaching the next generation the value of freedom and what it means to serve. Through our TEACH program we offer the free resources for anyone wanting to help the youth of their community learn.

We hope you will find a way to join us in this yearlong mission. But no matter what, remember to “Keep moving forward.”
