New Federal Funding announced for Legion Branches
Veterans Affairs Canada announced a new aid package providing $14 million in support to Legion Branches struggling with operational costs as a result of the pandemic. Information on how to apply for funding was emailed to Legion Branches on November 17.

Meet this year’s National Silver Cross Mother
The 2020-2021 National Silver Cross Mother was announced earlier this month. Mrs. Deborah Sullivan of Summerville, New Brunswick, will represent Silver Cross Mothers across Canada until the end of October, 2021.
The Memorial Cross – more commonly referred to as the Silver Cross – introduced in 1919, is a symbol of personal loss and sacrifice on behalf of widows and mothers who lose a child on active duty, or whose death is later attributed to such duty.

THE LEGION PUBLIC RELATIONS MANUAL
The new Public Relations Manual is now on the Member Services Website. This manual provides information for Public Relations Officers to effectively participate in or lead PR efforts, from organizing events to dealing with the news media.
The Manual can be found by clicking on Branch and Command Resources, then Marketing and Public Relations.

A call for nominations
Canada’s Veterans Ombudsman is accepting nominations of individuals, organizations or groups that deserve recognition for their selflessness, hard work and dedication to Veterans and their families. Submit your nominations by March 30, 2018!

The Atlantic Memorial Park
The Poppy and Remembrance Committee wants to let Branches and Members know about an initiative by the AMP Society, a not-for-profit organization, to develop an Atlantic Memorial Park on the East Coast to educate visitors about Canada’s military history.

► Your Legion online
The Legion’s new Member Services Website is a gateway to convenient and easy membership information and services. The new website allows Legion Branches to process new and renewing members online, gain 24/7 access to up-to-date branch membership records, and run branch-specific reports.
The Member Services Website also makes it easier and more convenient for Members to renew. Did you know, 41% of non-renewing members for 2017 stated they would renew today if they could do so online? We encourage Branches to make the most of this great tool!
Branches: Login to portal.legion.ca with the username and password provided to the Branch.
Members: Register their membership at portal.legion.ca to access their profile.
►  ALLOW YOUR MEMBERS TO RENEW ONLINE
A major advantage of the Member Services Website is allowing your members to renew online. Help retain your members by entering your branch rate in the new system. Once your rate is entered, encourage your Members to register on the Member Services Website for easy renewal!
Under “In This Section”, click on Branch Rates to enter your rate. If you need assistance, please contact Member Services and we can help and/or enter the rate for you.
►  ACCESS YOUR BRANCH REGISTER ONLINE
Did you know your Branch has 24/7 access to up-to-date branch membership records? To view the Branch Register:
1. Under “In This Section”, click on Reports
2. Click on Membership-Branch Register
3. Click Generate Report
►  2018 PER CAPITAL TAX
Effective February 1, 2018, the 2017 membership year becomes a buyback year and is processed at the 2018 per capita tax rate.

Per capita tax rates can be found on the Member Services Website. Under “In This Section”, click on Branch and Command Resources, then Membership.
►  NEW ONLINE DATA CHANGE FORMS
A new data change form is now available on the Member Services Website under “In This Section”, Data Change Form. The online form allows you to submit:

  • Deceased members
  • Transferred members
  • Updates for delivery of Legion Magazine
  • Replacement card requests
►  BRANCH TRANSFER REPORTS
Effective January 1, 2018, the Branch Transfer Report will only be available online. We will no longer be mailing a hard copy to branches on a monthly basis.
The report can be accessed by logging in to the Member Services Website and following these steps:

  1. Under “In This Section”, click Reports
  2. Click Branch Transfers Past 6 Months
  3. At the top of the page, click Generate Report
  4. Open PDF report

La Légion offre à ses membres une chance de gagner des billets de VIA Rail pour qu’ils puissent voyager à travers le pays à leur façon, soit dans le cadre de plusieurs petits voyages ou d’une grande aventure transcanadienne.
Tout membre qui s’inscrit via le Portail de l’adhésion de la Légion avant le 2 avril sera automatiquement admissible au concours. Cela dit, encouragez vos membres à s’inscrire pour avoir une chance de gagner!

LE GUIDE DES RELATIONS PUBLIQUES DE LA LÉGION
Le nouveau Guide des relations publiques est maintenant à votre disposition par l’entremise du Portail de l’adhésion de la Légion. Ce guide fournit des renseignements aux officiers des Relations publiques (RP) pour qu’ils puissent engager ou diriger pleinement, et ce, de façon efficace, les efforts de RP, allant de l’organisation d’événements jusqu’aux façons de communiquer avec les médias.
On peut accéder à ce Guide en cliquant sur Ressources Directions Filiales, et ensuite sur Marketing & Relations publiques.

Le Bureau de l’ombudsman des vétérans du Canada accepte les mises en candidature de gens, d’organisations ou de groupes qui méritent d’être reconnus pour leur altruisme, leur travail acharné et leur dévouement envers les vétérans et leurs familles. La date limite des nominations est le 30 mars 2018.

Le Parc commémoratif de l’Atlantique
Le Comité du Coquelicot et Souvenir souhaite informer les filiales et les membres d’une initiative de l’AMP Society, soit un organisme sans but lucratif, visant à aménager un parc commémoratif de l’Atlantique sur la côte Est, afin de sensibiliser les visiteurs à l’histoire militaire du Canada.

► Votre Légion en ligne
Le nouveau Portail de l’adhésion de la Légion est une passerelle vers des renseignements et des services pratiques et faciles à l’intention des membres. Le nouveau site Web permet aux filiales de traiter en ligne l’adhésion de nouveaux membres et leur renouvellement, de pouvoir accéder 24 heures sur 24, 7 jours sur 7, aux dossiers à jour des membres de la filiale, et d’obtenir des rapports propres aux filiales.
Le Portail de l’adhésion de la Légion permet également aux membres de facilement renouveler eux-mêmes leur adhésion. Saviez-vous que 41 % des membres qui n’ont pas renouvelé leur adhésion en 2017 ont déclaré qu’ils renouvelleraient aujourd’hui s’ils pouvaient le faire en ligne? Nous encourageons fortement les succursales à profiter pleinement de cet excellent outil!
Filiales : Connectez-vous à portal.legion.ca/fr avec le nom d’utilisateur et le mot de passe fournis à la filiale.
Membres : Inscrivez leur adhésion à portal.legion.ca/fr pour accéder à leur profil.
► PERMETTEZ À VOS MEMBRES DE RENOUVELER EN LIGNE
Un atout majeur du Portail de l’adhésion de la Légion est de permettre aux membres de renouveler eux-mêmes en ligne. Aidez à fidéliser vos membres en entrant votre taux de filiale dans le nouveau système. Une fois votre taux entré, encouragez vos membres à s’inscrire via le Portail de l’adhésion pour un renouvellement facile!
Sous « Dans Cette Section », cliquez sur Taux de la filiale pour entrer votre taux. Si vous avez besoin d’aide, veuillez contacter les Services aux membres; leur personnel pourra vous aider et/ou entrer le taux pour vous.
► POUR ACCÉDER À LA LISTE DE MEMBRES DE VOTRE FILIALE
Saviez-vous que votre filiale a accès 24 heures sur 24 aux dossiers d’adhésion à jour de votre filiale. Pour consulter la liste de membres de filiale :
1. Sous « Dans cette section », cliquez sur Rapports.
2. Cliquez sur Liste de membres de filiale (Registre)
3. Cliquez sur Générer le rapport
► TAUX DE CAPITATION 2018
En vigueur à compter du 1er février 2018, l’année d’adhésion 2017 devient une année admissible au rachat, ce qui peut être fait selon le taux de capitation 2018.

On pourra consulter les taux de capitation par l’entremise du Portail de l’adhésion de la Légion. Sous « Dans Cette Section », cliquez sur Ressources Directions Filiales et ensuite sur Adhésion.
► NOUVEAU – FORMULAIRE DE CHANGEMENT DE DONNÉES EN LIGNE
Un nouveau formulaire de changement de données est maintenant accessible par l’entremise du Portail de l’adhésion de la Légion sous « Dans Cette Section », en cliquant sur Formulaire de changement de données. Le formulaire en ligne vous permet de soumettre :

  • Membres décédés
  • Membres transférés
  • Mises à jour – Livraison / Revue Légion
  • Demandes – Remplacement de cartes de membre
► RAPPORTS DE TRANSFERTS À L’INTENTION DES FILIALES
À compter du 1er janvier 2018, le Rapport de transfert de filiale ne sera offert qu’en ligne seulement. La Légion n’enverra plus par la poste ce rapport mensuel aux filiales.
Pour obtenir le rapport, il suffit d’aller au Portail de l’adhésion de la Légion et d’y ouvrir une session, pour ensuite suivre les étapes suivantes :

  1. Sous « Dans Cette Section », cliquez sur Rapports
  2. Cliquez sur Rapport de transferts (six derniers mois)
  3. Cliquez sur Générer le rapport (au haut de la page)
  4. Ouvrez le rapport *.PDF
