Hello
Lambeth Palace Remembers
The multi-faith service and event, which welcomed more than 100 guests was the first open-air service in living memory at the official London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The service was held alongside an installation of 42 black metal ‘Unknown Tommy’ figures, which recognised those who have lost their lives in conflict in each of the Anglican Communion’s 42 provinces covering the 165 countries around the world.

Reverend Angus Aagaard, who led the service and is Chaplain to the 3rd Battalion Military Intelligence unit and an honorary Major in the Battalion, said: “This service recognised that remembrance is a shared experience in communities around the world, both past and present.

Reverends Tosin Oladipo and Angus Aagaard were joined in the service by Padre Rabbi Ariel Abel, CF – Merseyside Armed Forces Cadets, Liverpool; Mandeep Kaur, MBE – Sikh Chaplain to the Armed Forces; Acharya Krishan K Attri, MBE – The Defence Hindu Chaplain and Imam Asim Hafiz, OBE – Islamic Religious Advisor, CDS & Service Chiefs.

Lisa Farmer, RBLI’s Deputy Chief Executive, added: “We owe our thanks to Lambeth Palace for kindly hosting this wonderful event for us. It was an honour to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Archbishop’s representatives and faith leaders to recognise those who lost their lives, as well as those who needed help and support when they returned from conflict.

We raised over £3,000 which is just incredible and will help us continue our vital work with supporting veterans.

As the nation emerges from lockdown, referrals for our support have increased above anything we have known before. Without your help, these veterans are unable to access the support they so urgently need.

“I just don’t even want to think about where I’d be right now, if it wasn’t for RBLI. They have supported me through every step of my recovery and myself and my family are so grateful to them. Without RBLI, I would not be alive today.”

– James, veteran at RBLI

Please consider giving the gift of recovery, a home and a fresh start to those veterans in desperate need.

Leyton Orient Remembrance Match
The fallen footballing heroes of Leyton Orient were remembered when veterans from Royal British Legion Industries and its Tommy Club joined the club’s spectators at a special Remembrance match on Saturday 30 October.

In a short ceremony in the centre circle before the match at the Breyer Group Stadium, representatives from military charity RBLI commemorated the three former Leyton Orient (the O’s) players who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country during World War One.

Veterans Steve Hammond, who was injured on the Sir Galahad during the Falklands, and George Bradford, a former Royal Marine aged 91, marked the moment in the centre circle, alongside three Tommies, each named after a former player and produced by RBLI’s factory.

Tottenham Hotspur’s captain Harry Kane who started his career at Leyton Orient.

Harry Kane said: “It was incredibly powerful to see the veterans of the Tommy Club honour the three former Leyton Orient players who lost their lives.

“The support for our veterans provided by the Tommy Club is needed now more than ever. They are changing lives every day and I’m delighted to champion their work supporting those who served our nation.”

Thanks to a bucket collection by Tommy Club Champions who generously volunteered their time to help on the day, we raised nearly £1,600 for RBLI, which provides employment for veterans and people with disabilities at a factory in Kent, alongside its village offering homes and care accommodation.

Dear ,
During a time of world events that nobody could have anticipated, the need from veterans for RBLI’s assistance has increased dramatically. For every one veteran we can currently help, there are at least three more in immediate need of our assistance.

With your support, we could reach them.

DONATE NOW
As the nation emerges from lockdown, referrals for our support have increased above anything we have known before, as thousands of veterans are struggling with the aftermath of the pandemic.

More veterans than ever are homeless due to the dramatic increase in redundancies across the country, with many also battling Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, only made worse by what they’ve suffered in the past 18 months.

Your donation could provide them with homes, welfare and employability support to help every one of them get back on their feet and begin a positive future with their families.

Please consider giving the gift of recovery, a home and a fresh start to those veterans in desperate need.

Give back to those who gave so much. Now, more than ever, they need you.

Hello
It was fantastic to welcome Secretary of State for Scotland, Rt Hon Alister Jack MP, to our social enterprise, Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company, on Thursday 14th October.

Alister Jack said:
“It was a real pleasure to visit Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company to see first-hand the work they are doing to support disadvantaged Scottish veterans. “Throughout the pandemic their team of veterans have been providing a truly valuable service to Scotland, producing signage for businesses and healthcare providers, including the NHS, so that essential workers and those on the front line of care can return swiftly to work. “It was really inspiring to see how the factory has continued to grow at pace over the past year. The Scotland’s Bravest model clearly shows that it’s possible for enterprises to become leaders in industry while genuinely improving people’s lives.”

Hello

Tommy 10k aboard HMS Prince Of Wales

Did you see the absolutely incredible kick off to our Tommy 10k this week? The crew of one of the Royal Navy’s leading aircraft carriers joined forces with Royal British Legion Industries to launch a national fundraising campaign which aims to raise vital funds for the military charity.

On Wednesday 6th October, more than 60 crew members of the HMS Prince of Wales took on RBLI’s Tommy 10k challenge which encourages participants to run, walk or ‘wheel’ 10 kilometres over the coming Remembrance period to fundraise for ex-service personnel and their families.

Crewmembers took part in the challenge on the ship’s 280 metre-long flight deck, which has space for three full-size football pitches. Joining them was RBLI’s Chief Executive Steve Sherry CMG OBE.

The Tommy 10k, so named after RBLI’s iconic Tommy figure, first launched at the height of the pandemic in November last year with more than 2,000 taking part to help to raise more than £250,000 for vulnerable military veterans during the pandemic.

This year however, Royal British Legion Industries are looking to mobilise Armed Forces units, regiments, crews, bases, stations and garrisons to take part, calling on them to raise £5,000 in return for naming rights to a room of the charity’s new Centenary Village.

The HMS Prince of Wales is one of the most powerful surface warships ever constructed in the UK. The 65,000 tonne ship holds a minimum of 700 crew members which rises to 1,600 with aircraft on board. The carrier was in Portsmouth, where the Tommy10k will take place, after its final training exercise before becoming fully operational.

Join the Tommy 10k now!
