Introducing the Remember Me Wreath: Help Us Honor Every Veteran!

A newsletter from the Wreaths Across America organization.

Recently, I had the privilege of sitting down with a few local folks to talk about World War II and how it shaped communities across Maine. The group was made up of people from all walks of life, yet we all shared the same conviction — that we must keep these memories and lessons alive, and do our part to pass them on to the next generation.

Remember Me Wreath Sponsorship

forgotten__58189

The sponsorship of a Remember Me Wreath ensures that someone without living loved ones to remember them is not forgotten. This wreath will be sent to where it is most needed to be placed on the headstone of a U.S. servicemember by a volunteer in that community. Unlike regular sponsorships, these wreaths are distributed based on need rather than assigned to a specific location or group, supporting Wreaths Across America’s mission to honor and remember every veteran. Including a Remember Me Wreath extends your contribution by helping to honor heroes who might otherwise go unrecognized.

Sunday, Sept 28, was the National Day of Recognition for Gold Star families. Sadly, four more families were added to their ranks the week prior. Gold Star Families live each day with the sacrifice of their loved one’s service.

Remembering our veterans is not only about honoring those we know personally, but also those whose names and stories time may have forgotten. By teaching the next generation and carrying this mission forward, we ensure their legacy lives on in us.

Let’s Rekindle the Spirit of Unity this Patriot Day

A timely item from the Wreaths Across American organization.

Patriot Day Banner

Dear Michael Barbour,

Today, we solemnly observe Patriot Day, a day dedicated to honoring the heroes and remembering the victims who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001. On this hallowed day, we witnessed the extraordinary emergence from the hearts of ordinary individuals. In addition to the brave police officers and firefighters who heroically risked their lives to aid others, countless strangers also stepped forward, displaying unparalleled courage as they placed themselves in harm’s way to serve others.

The solidarity after the 9/11 attacks symbolized our strength and unity as a country, when Americans came together to support one another in the face of adversity. Today, we are reminded of our commitment to the principles of unity, patriotism, and service that carried our nation through the challenging days that followed that tragic day. Wreaths Across America Volunteer Cathy Pagano wrote this poem that shares a simple ask:

Dedicate yourself to bringing unity back into our nation. It must begin with each one of us.

We invite you to join Wreaths Across America’s yearlong mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Use the buttons below to explore opportunities to get involved.

A dedicated Gold Star Wife, Army wife and mother, Norma’s story of resilience and dedication will remain with you long after reading. How lucky are we to hear her story in her own words. We hope that when you read this book, you share Norma’s example of service with the children in your life so they can be inspired too.”
