The soulless gaze of haters

I have seen it several times. And I have felt seething, deep-seated
hate directed both at me and at others—in South Africa, in Kosovo,
in Afghanistan. It doesn’t go away easily or quickly.

There is only so much we, as a so-called civilized society, can
do when confronted with it in other parts of the world. The history is just
too much. One thing is for sure: we don’t want that hate here in North America.

NFI Selected to Provide Logistics for Wreaths Across America

Cherry Hill, N.J. (PRWEB) August 22, 2017 — NFI, a leading supply chain solutions provider, has announced a partnership with Wreaths Across America (WAA), a non-profit whose mission – Remember, Honor, Teach – is carried out in part each December with the placement of veterans’ wreaths on every marker at Arlington National Cemetery, and at more than 1,300 military cemeteries nationwide.

The Dieppe Raid

This year marks the 75^th anniversary of the Dieppe Raid. The service and sacrifice of Canadians who fought there will never be forgotten. The disastrous Dieppe Raid of Aug. 19, 1942, is most commonly remembered by a grim statistic—the greatest one-day losses sustained by the Canadian Army during the Second World War. Of the almost 5,000 Canadian soldiers who took part in this ill-fated raid on occupied France, more than half became casualties. Sadly, a total of 916 Canadians would lose their lives.

Army tents for refugees

While Haitian and other refugees flee the United States in fear of its new government policies on immigration, Canadians do what Canadians do best: they help. Canadian soldiers were out last week erecting a tent village near the U.S. border to accommodate waves of asylum seekers crossing into Quebec.

There was ample heroism on the beaches. Less well known are the heroics displayed by a small group of men who were captured by the Germans that day but managed to escape.
