Community Q & A: Facing Border Closure Together

An item from one of our fellow Canadian organizations in the Bay Area.

With the border closure extended to August 21st, and talk of yet another extension to the border closure coming, Canadian expats continue to have questions about their ability to travel. Join the Canadian Consulate and the Digital Moose Lounge for a virtual Community Q&A: Facing Border Closure Together.
To join in, please RSVP to Wade.Wallerstein@international.gc.ca for the Zoom link.

[FINAL REMINDER] Royal Canadian Legion – US Branch 25 August Meeting

As we are still unable to meet in person, but also have business that we need to attend to, we will be holding an August business meeting for the membership of US Branch #25 representing the San Francisco Bay Area. The meeting will be held online using Zoom on Tuesday, 04 August at 7pm. The dress for the meeting is casual (i.e., Legion attire is not required).

The details on how to join the meeting can be obtained by e-mailing mkbarbour@gmail.com

The agenda, minutes from the previous meeting, and various written reports will be e-mailed prior to the event.

If you have not used Zoom, you can download the program to your computer by visiting https://zoom.us/support/download (there are also links on that page to download it to your phone or tablet). To join the meeting follow the steps outlined in this video – https://youtu.be/9isp3qPeQ0E – or the instructions under the “How do I join a Zoom session?” portion of this website https://www.aarp.org/home-family/personal-technology/info-2020/how-to-use-zoom.html

We hope to see everyone there…

AUGUST 2020     MMA EVENT CALENDAR

This MonthWe hope you are staying safe and well. At a time of year when many of us would normally be traveling, attending festivals or sporting events, gathering with friends and family for garden parties or long-awaited reunions, we are all instead adapting as best we can to this new way of life.

Here at your Club, we are doing everything possible to make the Club & Hotel a safe and welcoming place. We are also developing more ways to help you connect with your Club community. Watch this space and your email for details as these plans unfold.

We are so proud of what we have here; proud of our dedicated staff members who keep it running smoothly through good times and bad; and especially proud of you, our members, whose financial support continues to sustain our mission. THANK YOU!

Video Series: Leading from the Front

Conversations with Leaders on Diverse and Timely Topics

LFTF-MCM.jpgFrom inside the Marines’ Memorial Club, our new series’ first installment presents Emmy Award-winning correspondent and MMA Board Member Mike Cerre in conversation with Oakland A’s adviser Sandy Alderson on the survival of baseball. The second installment is a discussion of how the military leads from the front on the issue of racial equality, with retired Marine Sergeant Major Carlton Kent and Marine and FBI veteran M.K. Palmore. Don’t miss these conversations, and please share them with others!

Leading from the Front is made possible through the generosity of our donors, who support this and other educational programs of the Marines’ Memorial.

What’s been happening this month at RBLI?

We have given over 100 Thank You Awards and received one very special award ourselves. 🎉

Our events are still going ahead (even while social distancing) and we’ve had some crackers! Supporters across the country have completed our crazy challenges – 100 sit ups or squats a day – for 30 days! 💪

With VJ Day fast approaching, we have been hearing about what the conditions were like to fight in the jungle, those who ended up as Prisoners of War and how to deal with leeches. 😳

Read about it, join in and show your support for our Armed Forces!
