Hi ,

We know that 2020 has been an incredibly tough year for everybody, so we just wanted to let you know about the incredible difference you have made.

The support we have received this year from our customers, fundraisers and Tommy Club Champions has helped ensure that during these unprecedented times, we have not needed to reduce or cut any of our services at RBLI this year. So on behalf of our veterans and people with disabilities who we support, THANK YOU.

Our Tommy Champions!

As it has been for so many, this year has been ‘one hell of a year’ for our Tommy 10k and Tommy Club champion Lisa. The first national lockdown coincided with the breakdown of her 24 year relationship and the sad loss of her uncle.

As part of the fundraising challenge, and alongside neighbour, friend and biggest cheerleader Alison, they ran trails with conditions that were close to what our Armed Forces may have faced.  ‘We even ran my longest ever run (8.5 miles / 12.5 km) at night!  That was so much fun! Said Lisa.

‘I have been completing personal challenges every month since May in order to keep my focus on something positive. Without a shadow of a doubt, the Tommy 10k has been the most positive experience of them all. Our #Tommyfamily has been amazing and I have loved being part of it. Thank you all for the incredible support, it has helped me more than you will ever know.’

Lisa has been sharing her fundraising journey with community Facebook pages in her area. Almost one third of her incredible £1131 raised has come from community members on these groups – people that she has never met before. She even managed to meet up with a fellow Tommy10k runner, who works in the same town! (Socially distanced of course!)

Everyone at RBLI would like to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to Lisa and all of our Tommy 10k supporters. This challenge has made RBLI history and we are in awe of the encouragement and kindness shown to one another. They have created a Community which will go on long after the challenge finishes.

Tommy In the Window

Spotted in our supporter Anne’s window, proudly displaying her VE Day Tommy. A poignant reminder that as the UK remains in lockdown after a very difficult year, the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in the First and Second World War will not be forgotten.

Lest We Forget.

Are you displaying your Tommy in the window? We would love to see! Send us a photo using the button below.
