While July 1st is Canada Day, for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians it is also Memorial Day or Commemoration Day – a day when we remember the tragic events of the Battle of Beaumont Hamel.

The first of July 1916 was the opening day of the Battle of the Somme, when 806 members of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment climbed out of their trenches and went “over the top” at 8:45am as part of the battle of Beaumont-Hamel. In less than an hour, the regiment was devastated, most killed or wounded within the first 20 minutes of the battle. The next morning, only 68 soldiers answered the roll call. Commemoration Day was established in 1917, just one year later.

RCAF Association Elections

The ballot for the 2020 election to the RCAF Association Board of Directors (formerly National Executive Council) and for the RCAF Association Board of Trustees has now been released. Voting closes 26 June 2021. Members-in-good-standing who have shared their e-mail address with us, (over 2,870 members) have received their ballot and are now exercising their rightful privilege to vote. If you have not received a ballot or you would like to receive one, you may e-mail Dean Black ( director@airforce.ca ) to learn more.

Join us for our MidSummer’s Celebration at Tiburon’s historic Ark Row next Saturday! 
The afternoon will commence with music from the Prince Charles Pipe Band & Highland dancers followed by jazz from the John Kalleen Group. British influenced food & nibbles along with wine, beer & soft drinks will be available for purchase.
We are delighted to share that our guest of honor, HM Deputy British Consul General Tammy Sandhu will kick off the event!
Bring friends & family to experience British humor & hospitality. Everyone is encouraged to join in the raffle to help raise funds for our amazing charity! Parking
  • There is a car park directly behind Ark Row, rates apply, generally fills up quickly on Saturday.
  • CVS parking lot at 1555 Tiburon Boulevard, $5 per day. After parking, cross Tiburon Boulevard and head towards the Post Office and Sea (to the left of and opposite side of Woodlands Market). Ark Row is just round the corner and the main festivities start about half way down – head towards Tiburon Wine Shop and Trinity House Paintings.
