Plaques Installed at Greenlawn Cemetery

In the plot that our branch maintains in Greenlawn Cemetery, there is a monument where we have placed the names of those members who have passed away, but are laid to rest elsewhere.  Over the years, we have gotten behind or missed a name here and there.

During the past six months, Comrades Siefken and Margaret Krieger have researched our membership rolls to determine the missing names so that we could add plaques for each one.  This past weekend, Comrade Charlie Martin and his brother (Bob) installed them on the monument.  Charlie even took a few minutes to play a piece on the pipes to remember them.

Hello

RBLI’s Ride with a Veteran

After a gruelling 150 miles cycling through the weekend’s tremendous heat, the team of 50 on RBLI’s Ride with a Veteran successfully arrived at their destination; Meriden’s iconic cycling memorial.

The group have raised an incredible £40,000 so far, heading increasingly towards their target of £50,000.

It’s still not too late to donate to the cause!

Every penny raised goes directly to supporting military veterans and their families through RBLI’s wide range of services.

Head on over to the JustGiving page to show your support.

The Original Tommy Statue is back

RBLI’s life-sized Tommy Statue has a poignant and effective purpose; to serve in communities as a universal, touching reminder to those who have been killed in service.

As previously seen around the UK at prominent locations such as The Tower of London and the White Cliffs of Dover, as well as abroad in cities such as New York, San Francisco and Toronto, the Tommy Statue has been fresh re-engineered and is now back and available to order!

The Tommy Statue is now being widely adopted by councils and local authorities nationwide as a way for communities to pay tribute to those who have given their lives, representing the sacrifices and loss that communities paid during WW1 and WW2.

Does your area have one of our Tommies? If not, don’t be afraid to write to your local councillor and request one – we believe every community in the UK should have one.
