Service of Remembrance 2019

While this event is not traditionally organized by the Royal Canadian Legion, US Branch #25, for the first time the 2019 Service of Remembrance was a joint event of the branch and Grace Cathedral.  The event occurs on the Sunday closest to Remembrance Day at 3:00pm in Grace Cathedral, 1100 California St, San Francisco, CA.  This year the event was held on Sunday, 10 November.

REMINDER: 31st Annual Veterans Day Parade & Flyover

A REMINDER OF THIS EVENT TOMORROW

Petaluma proudly hosts the largest Veteran’s Day Parade north of the Golden Gate. The event is dedicated to remembering the men and women who set aside their civilian pursuits to serve our nation’s cause, defending our freedom and preserving American heritage.

Events begin with music in Walnut Park at noon and the parade begins at 1 p.m. Huey helicopters, tanks, and more than 100 entries provide plenty of pomp and circumstance. The day continues at Walnut Park with prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and guest speakers.

Happy Birthday, USMC!

An item from a fellow veterans organization in the Bay Area.

Happy Birthday,
U.S. Marine Corps!
We build our lives on tradition.

Just try to picture New Year’s Eve without a midnight countdown, or Independence Day without fireworks.

At 244 years old today, the U.S. Marine Corps has had a lot of time to build up traditions. Across the world, Marines are celebrating their birthday with time-honored customs like slicing a cake with a sword and handing out the first pieces to the oldest and youngest Marines in the room. It’s as much a part of their identity as the nickname “devil dog” (which dates to WWI).

A Marine’s character is less tangible than the Eagle, Globe and Anchor on his or her uniform, but it’s as much a tradition. And their diehard belief in loyalty, best summed up by the Marine Corps motto “Semper Fidelis” (Always Faithful), is something we can all easily adopt.

Will you consider demonstrating your commitment to our veterans, currently serving and their families with a gift? Supporting the Marines’ Memorial on this special day allows us to fund our programs, including:

  • Aid & Assist Program — Provides care packages for deployed service members, complimentary memberships for currently serving and subsidized rooms during training in the area and while transitioning to civilian life.
  • Gold Star Parents Honor & Remembrance Event — Offers grieving parents the means to connect with a supportive community and build essential relationships that last a lifetime.
  • Scholarship Program — Gives the children and grandchildren of veterans the opportunity to pursue higher education.
By giving on this special day, you’ll follow a tradition older than the United States — supporting those who defend our freedoms.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

If your giving is restricted to 501(c)3 organizations, please consider a gift to Marines’ Memorial Foundation which supports all programs of the Marines’ Memorial Association. Please contact the Marines’ Memorial Development Department at development@marinesmemorial.org for more information.
