Your Mission This Week – From HQ

If you haven’t sponsored your wreaths yet this year – now is the time! Click the button below to sponsor…
If you have already sponsored, please tell your friends and family over this Thanksgiving week. There are so many families who will be without a loved one this holiday, because one is away and serving… or in some cases missing one who made the ultimate sacrifice.
I am very proud of my grandson Miles – who challenged ALL families to stop and think about those who are or have given up their holiday dinners.
Did you know that this year we will have over a million volunteers, placing wreaths at over 1300+ participating locations? Imagine if every volunteer sponsored at least one wreath – how many veterans and their families could we honor this December!

[eNewsletter #159] Never Losing Sight Of The Mission…

From the Wreaths Across America organization.

Never Losing Sight Of The Mission

As you might imagine, this time of year is incredibly busy for our staff and our core volunteers all across the nation. A lot goes into placing over 1.5 million wreaths!

First, I want to say thank you to all those who are working so hard. You make the mission go, and mission to honor our veterans and their families, is what is near and dear to all of our hearts. I love your dedication.

Second, this week we got a chance to see the new Wreaths Across America video and we think it is a GREAT way to introduce the mission to someone who might never stopped to think about why we honor our veterans. Please share with the people you care about.

And lastly, to help make that sharing easier and fun, we decided to run a 100 wreath (plus the toy truck set) drawing, and you can team up with your friends to increase the chances those wreaths will be placed at your participating location of choice. Click the link above to enter for a chance to win and honor at least 100 of your local veterans!

[eNewsletter #158] A Toy That Teaches?

From the Wreaths Across America organization.

11/07/2017 WAA eNewsletter

A Toy Set That Teaches

One of the most interesting stories that was shared with me recently, was when heard about how Dawnette (one of our staff here at WAA HQ) ordered several of the new Toy Truck Sets as gifts for her grandchildren, and as a way of teaching them about the mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach. What a great way to spend quality time with the little ones AND convey a bigger story about those who put it all on the line to protect our freedoms.
In order to reach different generations of Americans, you have to meet them where they are at – and share with them in way that brings the message and the mission home.
And personally, I love that the two little characters who are included in the set to help unload each load of honor and remembrance, are named Max and Lucy – after two of my grandchildren. It makes me one proud grandma!

What To Say To Your Friends

At Wreaths Across America HQ, we so live the mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach each day… that we sometimes feel surprised when we meet someone who has never heard of the wreath-laying tradition before.
But in the world of mission-driven, veteran service organizations, even with our over one million volunteers we are still pretty young and like the new kids on the block.
So how would you explain Wreaths Across America to your neighbor, coworker, of a visiting family member?
We have a new video (only 30 seconds long) down below, which says a lot about the mission, in a few words. And did you know that with our new website, when you sponsor a wreath you can now invite your friends (free with email and $2 with a card) to join you, and share the wreath-laying experience – together?
Introduce Wreaths Across America to someone you love, and they will thank you for it. We are Americans. We are One.

From the Wreaths Across America organization.

Voices Of Our Volunteers

Each week this fall, I have been impressed as we have uncovered more and more amazing stories of our WAA volunteers all across this great land.

Just like you, they are community leaders, business owners, professionals, and even school children – all doing what they know how to do, to show our military families how much we appreciate the sacrifices that are being made every single day.
It warms my heart when I think about how the wreath-laying tradition got its start over twenty-five years ago, when my husband, Morrill Worcester, who humbly describes himself as “just a wreath maker from Maine” did what he knew how to do, to show his appreciation.
And look at what it has become – thru the efforts of volunteers! Each single wreath that gets placed, becomes a catalyst. Families that might never otherwise meet, make a connection when the wreaths are laid, and the names are spoken out loud.
We each give so little, in comparison to the years of service and sacrifices made to protect our freedoms. But I could not be more proud of our nationwide network of volunteers. You make us all – better for the experience.
We hope to see you placing a wreath, saying thank you, and saying those names this December.
