Don’t miss these War Graves Week 2026 events

It’s War Graves Week 2026!

War Graves Week invites you to discover the stories behind the world wars at CWGC sites across the globe.
Taking place each May, it’s our largest week of activity worldwide, and this year’s theme shines a spotlight on the people we commemorate and the teams who care for them, inspired by our global storytelling platform, For Evermore.

With events, guided tours, site visits, and the chance to share your own family story through For Evermore, there are plenty of ways to get involved and explore the history that connects us all.

There are still events happening this weekend. Head to our events to page to find War Graves Week events near you!

Brookwood 1914-1918 Memorial: A new chapter in commemoration starts soon

There’s not long to go until the new Brookwood 1914-1918 Memorial is unveiled.

Initially, 400 names of First World War servicemen with no known war grave will be carved into the memorial’s stelae with space for more as new names are uncovered.

We have partnered with architectural practice Studio Wignall & Moore and internationally acclaimed garden designer Tom Stuart-Smith to create a memorial unlike any other.

Get to know more about the new Brookwood Memorial, who it commemorates, and its unique design.

Introducing the Menin Gate 100 Mark

The iconic Menin Gate is approaching a major centenary in 2027, and the new centenary logo created by CWGC draws its inspiration from the architecture of the memorial, integrating the number 100 to symbolise a century of shared commemoration at the site.

The 100th anniversary of the Menin Gate is an important occasion not just for us, but for the national and international partners we work with to care for the memorial, and of course, the local people of Ieper who continue to embrace our work over a century after the guns fell silent on the Ypres Salient.

We hope the new mark will become the anchor for event programmes, volunteer materials, social media and commemorative assets as we head towards the centenary year in the life of this magnificent memorial to the missing.

Keep an eye out for the Menin Gate 100 mark as we build up towards a very special centenary for the Menin Gate Memorial, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the City of Ieper.
