Thank you so much for a wonderful year at C100. With so many incredible events and gatherings we’ve had in 2019, here are 12 highlights to recap the year.

C100 Year in Review
JANUARY | Impact Report
C100’s first ever Annual Impact Report highlighting milestones and progress over 2018. Read 2018’s Impact Report. Look out for this year’s impact report coming out in the next few months.
FEBRUARY | Growth Summit 
An invitation-only two-day (un)conference for C100 Members and CXOs of high-growth startups. Key outcomes include:
  • Live tweets earned 26.5k impressions, with a double than-average engagement rate
  • “Who is Hiring” campaign promoted LinkedIn posts for 28 jobs, with 6.3k impressions 32 companies attended
  • Attendees booked 69 meetings through the Brella attendee app
This year’s theme was Tipping the Scale on Talent. Next year, C100’s Summit will amplify the voices of Canadian shapers and builders “from far and wide”.

MARCH | Annual Charter Member Dinner
An annual private gathering to celebrate C100’s impact and share the vision for the year ahead. Guest of Honour this year was Charter Member alumnus Scott Bonham, Recipient of the Shawn Price Legacy Award for Leadership.
APRIL | Canadians in Tech
C100 hosts meetups in San Francisco/Palo Alto for all Canadians visiting or living in the Bay Area to network with one another alongside C100’s staff, Charter Members and Partners. These frequent gatherings are the only consistent Bay Area networking events open to the public.
C100’s 48Hrs in the Valley welcomed the founders of 25 of Canada’s fastest-growing startups in the Bay Area. Our team facilitated 18 mentor matches between founders and experts in our network along with 56 investor meetings. View event photos.
48Hrs in the Valley has helped 250+ Canadian-led startups, which today employ 12,000+ people and have cumulatively raised over $2.4B in equity capital. You may be nominated up until January 6th by a C100 Charter MemberMemberPartner, or 48Hrs Alum in your network.
JUNE | Andre Charoo becomes new Co-Chair
Andre takes the baton from Co-Chair Sean Harrington and joins Shari Hatch Jones in leadership of the C100 Board of Directors. Until recently, Andre has served on the Board and as a proud C100 Charter Member.
JULY | C100 gathers in Montréal
The C100 team flew out east to attend Startupfest, where Laura Buhler spoke on Canada’s relationship with the US, as well as hosting an invitation-only, interactive dinner and discussion in Montréal for local Charter Members and C100 entrepreneurs.

Each year, C100 awards an Icon of Canadian Entrepreneurship for their impact on the world of technology and on the Canadian entrepreneurial community. 2019’s winner is Michelle Zatlyn, Co-founder at Cloudflare. To honour Michelle, we convened our Charter Members for dinner and a fireside chat facilitated by her close friend, Chris O’Neill. She joins an accomplished list of “icons” including the likes of Stewart Butterfield (CEO & Co-Founder of Slack) and Tobi Lütke (CEO & Founder of Shopify).

SEPTEMBER | C100 gathers in Toronto
Founders joined the C100 team and Wave Co-Founder and CEO Kirk Simpson for a Founders’ Dinner in Toronto. The C100 team was also excited to see our community speak on stage at Elevate including Eva WongAndrew GrahamDax DaSilvaJanet BannisterMichele RomanowDaniel Eberhard and Andrea Drager.
OCTOBER | Dinner & Discussion
Invited guests joined the C100 team for an interactive dinner at Swarm Technologies with Canadian Co-Founder and CEO Sara Spangelo.  Alongside guest of honour Anar Simpson, both discussed how our connections, economic power, and influence can be a force for positive change.
NOVEMBER | C100 launches New Paid Membership Program
C100 officially launched a new paid membership program on November 19th to cultivate a broader community of Canadians leading and/or operating in technology companies who are yet to be involved. Take a look at our current new members and a few words from C100’s Executive Director about the membership. C100 Members gather throughout the year to discuss topics of interest in the Canadian tech economy.

48Hrs in the Valley alum RenoRun secured $22.5 million CAD in Series A funding, co-led by C100’s Corporate Partner inovia Capital, and participation from Foundational Partner SVB, Corporate Partner Real Ventures, and C100 Co-Chair Andre Charoo’s fund, Maple VC.

C100’s Foundational Partner, Toronto-based PC Financial launches first PC Express stand-alone store where customers shop digitally and then pick up their order in the storefront location.


C100’s Corporate Partner, Montreal-based TandemLaunch closes $30 million CAD to support the creation of 20 new Canadian technology start-ups.
