| DON’T FORGET TO REMEMBER
INITIATIVE UPDATE
Dear Branch Presidents and Poppy & Remembrance Chairs,
Branches have now received their Don’t Forget to Remember kits.
As part of The Royal Canadian Legion’s 100th Anniversary, Branches across the country are invited to take part in this national Remembrance initiative by collecting handwritten messages from members, visitors, and community members. These messages will become part of a large-scale commemorative mural honouring the Fallen, which will be unveiled during the Remembrance period.
This is a simple and meaningful way to involve your community in Remembrance during the Legion’s centenary year.
How Branches can participate
Please set up the kit materials in a visible area and invite people to write a message of Remembrance on a sticky note. Messages can include a few words of thanks, a name or memory, or a reflection on what Remembrance means to them.
Branches are encouraged to collect messages:
Before July 17
Use the kit in the days leading up to the Legion’s 100th Anniversary.
During July 17 celebrations
Feature the initiative as part of your Branch’s centenary activities, open house, ceremony, barbecue, or community event.
After July 17
Continue collecting messages until the end of the month.
Return kits by July 31
Please mail your booklet of messages back, using the return packaging provided, on or before by July 31 so they can be included in the national mural. |
