On July 17, 1926, The Royal Canadian Legion was officially incorporated by a Special Act of Parliament, giving the organization a permanent foundation to support Veterans, lead Remembrance, establish Branches across the country, and bring Canadians together in service.
Now, 100 years later, the Legion continues to carry that mission forward.
As our official anniversary date approaches, Legion Branches across Canada are marking this milestone in meaningful ways — through commemorations, community events, open houses, barbecues, special activities, and moments of Remembrance.
This milestone comes during a year of renewed momentum, with Legion membership growing by 100,000 so far in 2026 and now reaching well over 300,000 members across Canada and abroad. Read more about this exciting growth and the Legion’s Centenary celebrations.
