Poppy Campaign @ Digital Moose Lounge’s/Canadian Studies Program at Second Annual Thanksgiving

Here are some images that the Digital Moose Lounge and the Canadian Studies Program at UC Berkeley shared with us from their Second Annual Canadian Thanksgiving dinner yesterday evening.  This was the first event that distributed poppies at during our 2018 Poppy Campaign.

 

 

 

Poppy Campaign – First Unofficial Poppy to Rana Sarkar

As a part of the Second Annual Canadian Thanksgiving dinner, organized by the Digital Moose Lounge and the Canadian Studies Program at UC Berkeley, Poppy Chair Michael Barbour presents Rana Sarkar, Consul General for Canada in San Francisco, with the first official poppy of the 2018 Poppy Campaign.

Legion’s Virtual Poppy Drop

The Legion’s Virtual Poppy Drop is back on October 27 through November 11 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. each night. This visual display of Remembrance will feature 117,000 Poppies, one for each of Canada’s Fallen, as they cascade down Centre Block on Parliament Hill. ‘The Last Post’ will be played on the Peace Tower bells by Dominion Carillonneur Dr. Andrea McCrady before the first Poppy falls on the first night. La Pluie virtuelle de coquelicots de la Légion sera de retour à compter du 27 octobre, et ce, jusqu’au 11 novembre, tous les soirs de 18 h 30 à 21 h 30. Cet affichage visuel du Souvenir présentera quelque 117 000 coquelicots – un pour chaque Canadien mort au combat – tombant en cascade sur l’édifice du Centre de la Colline parlementaire. Il est à noter que pour le tout premier soir seulement, juste avant la « tombée » de la Pluie virtuelle de coquelicots, le carillonneur du Dominion, la Dre Andrea McCrady, jouera la « Sonnerie aux morts » sur le carillon de la Tour de la Paix.
