Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

A statement from our colleagues in the RCAF Association on the passing of the Queen.

Dear Fellow Association Members,

We wish to join all of you in marking the passing of our patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on 8 September 2022.

With you, we also grieve the end of a truly remarkable life – Queen Elizabeth was the only sovereign most, if not all, of us have ever known. She was a woman of extraordinary stamina, character and dignity ; the exemplary life that she led will continue to serve as an example to all that follow.

As most of you know, Her Majesty was our RCAF Association’s patron – something that she committed to doing whilst still Princess Elizabeth,  before her Coronation.  We have benefited from her direct support and service, in this role, for more than 71 years.  As our patron she signaled her support for every aspect of our mission, year after year, as evidenced in her letter of greeting that she shared with us at the time of our general meetings.

It was Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our patron, who bequeathed to the RCAF Association the ensign that had served the RCAF from 1948 to 1968.

It is with this support in mind that we encourage all of you to continue your good work, as an RCAF Association member. Any and all scheduled events at your Wing should continue to be held, as we believe that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II would not want us to cancel our work and events to mark her passing, knowing how important she believed our work to be. There are many ways to acknowledge her service and her life of duty to our RCAF Association.

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge, in your own way, the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Colonel (Ret) Terry Chester, CD – Chairman RCAF Association Board of Directors
LGen (Ret) Andre Deschamps CD- Honourary National President
