It was a busy month in October. We celebrated Thanksgiving in Berkeley and saw the Liberals win the federal election and form a minority government. We will look back on these events, and show you what you can look forward to in the Bay Area.

3rd Annual Canadian Family Thanksgiving Dinner
Last month we hosted our 3rd Annual Canadian Family Thanksgiving. Thank you to all that were able to celebrate with us in Berkeley and congratulations to our prize winners! Also a big thank you and best wishes to Elliott Smith who after four years leaves UC Berkeley for Seattle, Washington. Elliott has been key in organizing our events with UC Berkeley as the Program Manager of the Canadian Studies Program.

2019 Federal Election Results Watch Party
Canada made it’s choice last month! While Andrew Scheer was Canada’s popular choice, Trudeau was re-elected as Prime Minister and formed a Liberal Minority government This was the first election since 1993 that any Canadian living outside the country could vote. The Canadian Studies Program at UC Berkeley hosted a watch party for those of us in the Bay Area. Did you vote? What were your reactions to the results? Let us know on Facebook!
Fire Watch: Stay Safe
The winds have picked up and the fire is roaring throughout much of the North Bay with many others experiencing power outages from PG&E. Visit PG&E’s website to see if you will be impacted with outages and check your local police departments’ social media feeds for more information and community resources. We will post any resources we have on our Facebook page and offer the comment section to allow all our Bay Area Moose to connect.
Tell Us a DML Story to Celebrate 20 Years!
In September 1999, a small group of Canadians in the Bay Area formed what is the Digital Moose Lounge today. This year, we are celebrating our 20th birthday! We are looking for original members and Board of Directors to help tell the story of DML in celebration. Cirque du Soleil: Amaluna
November 3rd – The sensational Canadian act will be calling San Francisco home for a couple of months. Their Amaluna act will be at Oracle Park until early January. The mysterious Island is ruled by goddesses and after a group of young men wash up on the isle from a large storm, it triggers an epic love story. Find your dates and tickets on their website.
CELS Forum: Practical Guide for Investing in Canadian Life Sciences Companies

Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Events
November 10/11/12 – The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 (serving the Bay Area) will host two events this month for Remembrance Day. More information can be found on their website.
  • Festival of Remembrance – Nov 10th at 3 pm, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.
  • Remembrance Day Ceremony – Nov 11th at 10:45 am, Liberty Cemetery in Petaluma.
  • Veterans Day Parade – Nov 11th at 1:00 pm, Walnut Park in Petaluma
  • Veterans Day Commemoration – Nov 12th at 11:00 am, Liberty Elementary School in Petaluma

Canada on Sharks Ice

Multiple Dates: Canadian hockey hits the SAP Center this month. Winnipeg and Vancouver will be making their first stops of the season this month. Edmonton, on the other hand, will play both of their games against the Sharks just a week apart.  Get your tickets here.

Also, circle the dates of Jan 29 (vs. Vancouver Canucks) and March 3 (vs. Toronto Maple Leafs) as they will be DML special events.

Raptors/ Warriors Rematch
March 5th– Looking to plan ahead? The Raptors will be in San Francisco for a rematch against the Golden State Warriors (sadly without the indomitable Kawhi Leonard) after winning last year’s NBA Final. Get your tickets here.
