Legion Branches are advised to half-mast the Canada flag to mourn the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh
This morning, a statement released from The Royal Family read: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will made in due course. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
As stated in the Legion Ritual, Awards and Protocol Manual Section 929.a, on the occasion of the death of a member of the Royal Family related in the first degree to the Sovereign, all Branches are advised to half-mast the Canada flag from now until the day of the funeral or memorial service (date to be announced).
The Royal Canadian Legion extends our deepest condolences to The Queen and The Royal Family in this difficult time. |
