Royal Canadian Legion National Day of Mourning
The State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 1100hrs BST.
The Royal Canadian Legion officially designates September 19th as a National Day of Mourning throughout the organization.
The following commemorative protocols are provided to assist Legion Branches in planning activities to honour and remember Her Majesty:
- Limit activities on September 19 to those commemorative in nature
- Hold a Remembrance ceremony
- Place a wreath in memory of Her Majesty
- Pause for a moment of silence
- Hold a post-commemoration gathering at the Branch, similar to those held after the Remembrance Day ceremony.
- Members may opt to wear a black armband (self-acquired)
The BBC will air the funeral on BBC News. Coverage timings are yet to be announced.
Legion National Headquarters will be closed on September 19 as the nation gathers to reflect and celebrate the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. |
